As many other markets the tablet market is clearly divided into leaders and underdogs, while the only actual tablet market player forms in fact the third group. And all those manufacturers, being key players or just some minor figures are  splendid sources of promising and intriguing news which are later being chewed over on a range of web-portals and blogs, accumulating unbelievable rumors and details which only provoke further guessing of the audience.

Let’s start from the absolute leader. Apple seems to be working at the next version of its fabulous toy, intending to provide iPad owners with all the functionalities iPhone 4 users already have. Many users hoped that the iPad will have a front camera installed already for April sales. But the company decided to keep to a rather smart policy sticking to a possibility of an upgrade to the next version somewhere in the end of 2010 - at the beginning of 2011. Keeping to that strategy Apple has a nice chance to   sell almost twice as many devices. If there were people who bought both a Wi-Fi device and a 3G one, there will certainly be people who’ll buy a new version having an older one packed in the bottom drawer. A future iPad release will definitely have a front facing camera allowing for FaceTime calls.

In addition, there have been quite a lot of rumors about  an iPad mini which is likely to be released somewhen at the end of 2010.  The news does not seem unbelievable though just doubtful. This autumn Apple unveils a new iPod Touch and it is definitely unclear what sense there is in creating a gadget which functionality will be quite close with that of the gadget.
But in the long run the whole idea of a mini-tablet turned out to be something more than a tech freak’s project. Last week Dell presented to the market its Streak gadget which is a real in between  category.  When compared to the iPad Dell’s tablet possesses quite a strong advantage  providing an ability to make and receive calls.
